Fans have been waiting for Luke Cage's standalone series since even before the Marvel Comics hero made his live-action debut on Netflix's "Jessica Jones." We got our first real look at the Hero for Hire's new series last month at Comic-Con International: San Diego -- and while it's not too long before the first season drops on Netflix, one fan got a jump on everyone by creating an unofficial title sequence for "Luke Cage."

Below you can check out the brief video, which frames Cage within the larger context of black history, next to seminal figures like Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Frederick Douglass, Jimi Hendrix and Dr. Dre.

Arriving Sept. 30 on Netflix, "Luke Cage" stars Mike Colter, Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley and Sônia Braga.
