The animated Scooby-Doo/DC crossover film Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! has leaked online, despite being canceled and written off by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! recently surfaced in its entirety. This development is significant, as it marks the first time one of the projects WBD scrapped for tax purposes and placed under lock and key last year has surfaced online. Incidentally, Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! was leaked on the very same day it came to light that WBD had also pulled the plug on the upcoming HBO Max/Cartoonito animated series Scooby-Doo! and the Mystery Pups.

Warner Bros. Discovery Scrapped Multiple Scooby-Doo Movies

Starting late last summer, WBD began canceling a number planned projects, despite some of them being either finished or nearly finished. This was done as a cost-cutting measure, with the company taking tax write-downs on these projects, meaning they could never officially be released to the public. Moreover, WBD pulled a number of existing films and television shows from its HBO Max streaming service (though many have since been licensed to other platforms).

Perhaps the most notorious example of WBD canceling a nearly-finished project amid its restructuring is the company's decision not to release the DC Extended Universe's live-action, HBO-Max exclusive Batgirl film. However, the content purge was also infamous for seeming to disproportionately affect animated films and shows. What's more, a fair amount of animated Scooby-Doo content in particular found itself on the chopping block.

In addition to Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too!, the animated feature film Scoob! Holiday Haunt (the planned sequel to the 2020 film Scoob!) met the same fate as Batgirl, being canceled and written off despite being all but completed. It recently came out that WBD had also scrapped another animated feature titled Scooby-Doo and the Haunted High Rise, which would have marked the return of the fan-favorite Hex Girls.

According to company CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels, WBD's content purge was officially over as of January 2023. Since then, however, a number of previously-unpublicized cancellations that took place during said purge have come to light, with Scooby-Doo and the Haunted High Rise being just one example. Another example is the fourth and final season of TNT's Snowpiercer. The WBD-owned network recently confirmed that it would not be airing the already-completed Snowpiercer Season 4, with the show currently in search of a new home to finish out its run.

What Is Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! About?

Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! carries on (or, officially, would have carried on) a long legacy of the Scooby-Doo franchise crossing over with the world of DC Comics. As its title implies, the Scooby-Doo film prominently features Superman's trusty canine sidekick, Krypto. Krypto was created by Otto Binder and Curt Swan, first appearing in Adventure Comics #210, cover-dated March 1955. The super-powered pup starred in his own animated series, Krypto the Superdog, which aired for two seasons on Cartoon Network from 2005 to 2006. More recently, Krypto led the charge in the 2022 big-screen animated feature DC League of Super-Pets.

In addition to Krypto himself, Scooby-Doo! And Krypto, Too! sees Scooby and the Mystery Inc. gang rub elbows with a number of other prominent DC characters, including Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, the Flash, the Joker and Lex Luthor. The canceled film stars the voices of Frank Welker, Grey Griffin, Matthew Lillard, Kate Micucci, P.J. Byrne, Victoria Grace, Charles Halford, Nolan North, Tara Strong, Fred Tatasciore, James Arnold Taylor and Niccole Thurman.
