Good news and bad news for fans of Don Cheadle’s War Machine, starting with the good: he’s coming back for more action in his own solo film, as the actor tells MTV News: “They’re developing it now, they’re working on that. I think they’ve hired a writer, so we’ll see how it goes. It would be a lot of fun.” On the flip side, Cheadle revealed that James “Rhodey” Rhodes won’t be bringing the firepower for The Avengers, despite earlier reports to the contrary: “I don’t think he shows up in [Avengers]. I think he’s kind of a lone wolf.”
In other Avengers news, Thor himself has spoken out about the upcoming superhero team up. Chris Hemsworth gave MTV an update on the project, saying: “I saw a very early draft and, yeah, it’s incredible … Look, everything about the story in the comic books is huge. You have these huge, big superheroes and these huge, big egos kind of crammed into one small space. Reading the script, it was massive. I said to Joss [Whedon], ‘I don’t know how you’re going to shoot this thing, but I’m excited to be onboard and let’s give it a go.'”
Hemsworth also addressed recent rumors that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, currently slated to make his debut in The Avengers, would mark an early arrival with a cameo scene in Thor. “He wasn’t on set when I was there,” he coyly reported.
