Woody Harrelson breaks bad, and he appears to have a simian sidekick in this teaser heralding a new trailer for the anticipated "War for the Planet of the Apes." Harrelson will play a villainous character called the Colonel.

In addition to Harrelson's forbidding presence, the short video features several new clips hyping the movie's next trailer, which is scheduled to arrive Thursday, March 30.

“War for…” will continue to tell the story of Caesar, the leader of the ape uprising performed via motion capture by Andy Serkis (who appeared as a real human being, Ulysses Klaue, in this summer’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”). Returning director Reeves will work from a script written by Mark Bomback, who also wrote “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”

Opening July 14, 2017, the new film picks up two years after the events of 2014’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” with the apes retreating to Muir Woods National Monument north of San Francisco in the aftermath of the killing of Koba by Caesar. In that time, they suffered tremendously at the hands of the Colonel, the ruthless lead of an army of humans, whom Reeves has said will to go to great lengths “to create a world where things can be gentle again.”

“War for the Planet of the Apes” stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller and Terry Notary.
