Gale Anne Hurd, the veteran producer whose credits range from The Walking Dead to The Incredible Hulk to the Terminator franchise, is turning to crime.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she's developing a U.S. adaptation of the Swedish drama Tusenbröder -- here referred to as Brothers in Crime rather than Brotherhood -- through her Universal Cable Productions-based Valhalla Entertainment.

Although there's no network attached, several of the key behind-the-scenes players are already in place -- including director Nick Cassavetes and writer Cliff Dorfman (Warrior, Entourage). Both will executive produce alongside Hurd.

Debuting in 2002 in Sweden, Tusenbröder centers on three childhood friends who become partners in a small business, only to fall upon hard times. When they borrow money from local mobsters and can't repay a debt, they decide to rob a bank.

Peter Stormare and Glenn Lund will co-executive produce the adaptation through Viking Brothers Entertainment, along with original series writer Lars Lundstrom and production companies Sveriges Television AB and Matador Film AB.
