The Walking Dead may have savage, man-eating undead along with the murderous living, but it could be worse: they could be after your cookies.

Such is the horrific world painted by Sesame Street's Walking Dead parody. The long-running children's program added to its roster of parodies this week with its own version of the zombie saga entitled The Walking Gingerbread.

In the skit, a bad batch of gingerbread known as Crumbies are on the loose and after poor Cookie Monster's (in full-Rick Grimes cosplay) beloved cookies. Muppet-ified versions of Daryl and Michonne (trading in their crossbow and samurai sword for a spatula and whisk, respectively) try to help Cookie Monster escape the Crumbies and control his appetite before bringing him to "The Cookie Safe-Zone," run by a totally trustworthy eye-patched muppet named The Governor.

Come for the spot-on spoof of TWD's opening, stay for the zombie dance party:

The classic PBS (and now HBO) show is about to enter its 48th season, but still has no trouble staying relevant. The Walking Dead is hardly the first parody to hit Sesame Street.
