Walking Dead WILL Cross Over With Fear The Walking Dead

Despite years of statements claiming otherwise, Robert Kirkman has announced the anticipated crossover will happen.

The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman dropped a bombshell during during AMC's New York Comic Con panel, announcing that the two shows will, indeed, have a crossover in their future.

Despite years of adamant statements that the casts of the two shows will never cross paths, Kirkman told a packed Theater at Madison Square Garden that things have changed. At some point in the future, the shows will dovetail together... sort of.

"We want these shows to have their own legs and have their own stories and be their own," Kirkman told an enthusiastic crowd. "There are two Walking Dead shows. There is one character that is going to go from one show — that I will not name — and appear in the other show — that I will not name."

That's all Kirkman has to say on the matter for now, leaving it up in the air as to which show will actually host the crossover episode or episodes, not to mention which character will be meeting new friends, or presenting themselves as a new enemy.

From the day Fear the Walking Dead was announced, fans of the zombie franchise have been asking when the survivors featured on the two shows would cross paths. For year, the answer Kirkman (who Executive Produces both series) and others involved in shepherding the shows would respond with some form of, "It is never going to happen." The reasons given have included the fact that the series operate on different timelines (Fear is based at a point in The Walking Dead's past), the distance between the casts (one is based on the East Coast, the other in California and Mexico), and just the concern over whether they would be able to spin a story convincing enough to satisfy fans.

It appears as though all of these concerns, and more, have been resolved, though that leaves fans with an all new subject to debate. Namely, which character will be making the crossover leap, and which series will audiences have to tune in to see it happen?
