The Walking Dead is about to reach a huge milestone: its 100th episode. To celebrate, AMC has released new artwork that shows just how far the series has come.

To be exact, The Walking Dead Season 8 premiere will be show's 100th episode. AMC celebrated the milestone at Comic-Con International in San Diego, but only now have they publicly released something to commemorate this golden number. The new artwork displays two sides of the popular series: the show's humble beginning with Rick as Sheriff, juxtaposed with the incredibly different place he's found himself at now. There's a noticeable shift in colour tones between the two sides, showing that the series has gotten darker over time.

To coincide with the art, AMC shared a four-minute video which features thank you messages from each member of the cast, including Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride, Norman Reedus and Lauren Cohan.

AMC dropped a Season 8 trailer at SCC that displayed a shocking time-jump in which Rick sported an ever bigger, much grayer beard. The first episode of the new season promises explain that scene.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC for it’s eighth season on October 22. The Walking Dead is a production of Skybound Entertainment starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Melissa McBride as Carol Peleteir, Lauren Cohan as Maggie Green and Danai Gurira as Michonne.
