DC Comics VP of Publicity David Hyde may not be a name or face the average comic fan considers when New Comics Day hits every Wednesdays, but for the past eight and a half years, the publicist has been working on keeping the company’s products in their minds. That ends this week.
After word ran around the industry this morning, CBR News can confirm that Hyde will leave DC at the end of this week of his own choosing.
Joining the company in 2003 as Director of Publicity, Hyde worked on DC’s expansion into the bookstore market on titles like “It’s A Bird..,.” “Pride of Baghdad,” “Identity Crisis” and “The Quitter” while also coordinating coverage for major comic events and conventions. In 2007, Hyde was promoted to VP of Publicity where he’s since worked in the publisher’s New York offices, promoting major initiatives including the recent New 52 initiative and the upcoming “Before Watchmen” project.
DC parent company Warner Bros. has already posted for a new VP on its job site, though Hyde will remain in the position for a few more days. CBR wishes him the best of luck.
