The trailer for the Netflix animated series begins with Prince Lotor giving a stirring speech to his followers, declaring that those who stand against them will be crushed. The pilot of the Black Lion is missing, and without him, there is no Voltron. Our Paladins have to learn to work as a cohesive unit minus their most important member, as space battles show the Lions being ambushed by Lotor's forces.

Arriving Aug. 4, the show’s third season will consist of just seven episodes rather than 13, with a six-episode Season 4 following in October.

The DreamWorks Animation series is a production of Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra), and is spearheaded by executive producers Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, and head writer Tim Hedrick, who were heavily involved in the beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Voltron: Legendary Defender stars Tyler Labine as Hunk, Jeremy Shada as Lance, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge, Kimberly Brooks as Allura, Rhys Darby as Coran, Josh Keaton as Shiro, Steven Yeun as Keith and Neil Kaplan as Emperor Zarkon.
