The Paladins are on the run in the trailer for the second season of DreamWorks Animation "Voltron: Legendary Defender," which debuts Jan. 20 on Netflix.

"There is no place in the universe beyond my vision's reach," Emperor Zarkon says in the promo. "Set a course for ... Voltron."

The first season ended with Zarkon revealed as the original Black Paladin, and the current pilots scattered across the galaxy. As the trailer shows, they're reunited, but seemingly unavailable to evade the villain.

"Each team member has to start the season dealing with their own problems," executive producer Lauren Montgomery told Entertainment Weekly. "They’ve all been split off. We’re going to spend a little bit of time tackling problems on their own, but ultimately they do have to come back together in the end. They have to get back into solving the problem at hand, which is Zarkon has enslaved a large portion of the universe. You can’t let that just keep going for too long."

In addition to the ever-present threat of Zarkon, the trailer also teases new allies and new villains, which executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos said will help differentiate the series from other incarnations of the franchise. "It’s an expansion of the universe," he said, "and it’s really where 'Legendary Defender' starts distinguishing itself from some of the previous versions. There’s just more out there. The world just keeps getting bigger."
