Season 1 of the DreamWorks/Netflix reimagining of classic cartoon "Voltron" received a good deal of critical acclaim. Many found it a worthy successor to the original, blending in humorous elements with some updated takes on the legendary team. The end of that first season saw the Voltron crew in dire straits after attempting to face down Emperor Zarkon. Now, the first trailer for Season 2, courtesy of ComicBook.com, gives a glimpse at what new challenges the team will be facing.

It starts with a chilling message, "Keith," Shiro says, "if I don't make it out of here, I want you to lead Voltron." Something catastrophic has happened, and it's uncertain whether or not Shiro will make it through in one piece.

The trailer shows the rest of the Voltron team, broken, and scattered throughout the cosmos. They'll have to take some time to regroup, after which it appears they will travel to new parts of the galaxy, and cross paths with new potential allies and enemies. Zarkon still looms in the background, though, and team Voltron will need to figure out how to bring him down once and for all.

In addition to the trailer, there's also a new series poster, also viewable on ComicBook.com. More Season 2 details will be revealed at the show's New York Comic Con panel this weekend.
