During the X-Men panel at C2E2, Children of the Atom writer, Vita Ayala, went into more detail about their upcoming Dawn of X book.

Ayala said, "Do you like my children? Clearly it is a teen book, and I'm not sure I'm allowed to say what their names are. It is a book that's near and dear to my heart. I was asked what would you do if you could be an X-Men? I said 'I'm in my 30s, so really bad on my back.' They're youngins though, their knees still work."

According to Ayala, the story is about diehard X-Men fans who get the change to become X-Men, "the Ultimate X-Men," in fact.

The team was described as "mouthy, sarcastic zoomers." Aspects of current culture will be explored through these characters. For example, one has a Tik Tok and another is a Twitch streamer. Ayala said they wanted to explore "contemporary fandom" and to show readers what it would be like if children today could actually be in the X-Men.

A cover and some interior panels were shown at the panel as well.
