Following up on his revelation from two weeks ago that Marvel wanted to meet with him, last night Vin Diesel posted a photo of himself posing in front of the cover of The Avengers #2 at the studio's offices.

If the image itself weren't enough to ignite a wildfire of speculation, the accompanying Facebook message certainly was:

Marvel meeting today...

Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed...

P.s. Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen... you know I get tunnel vision with my work... and after that meeting today... wow!

All right, as there's little actual information to go on here, let's have a little fun: Following Diesel's initial post last month about the mysterious meeting -- "no idea what for," he wrote at the time -- we speculated that he may be courted for Guardians of the Galaxy. However, that film is already bursting with talent.

We're left to wonder then whether the inclusion of The Avengers #2 in the background of the photo is entirely coincidental -- or is it an indication that the discussion involved Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers? If so, would Diesel play Thanos, which many people have suggested, or is it possible he'll portray Giant Man, who looms large on the cover? Is his use of the phrase "tunnel vision" a clue that he's being eyed to play the Vision, the android some speculated last year could be used as a way to resurrect Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson? (The fan-favorite character is indeed returning, but in the upcoming ABC television series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)

While we're on the subject, we'll throw out a related, but highly unlikely scenario: Vin Diesel will play Space Phantom! OK, that one's probably way off-base, but other possibilities include spots in Ant-Man, Doctor Strange or one of the more mysterious films in the works for 2015 and beyond.

Perhaps we'll learn more next week at Comic-Con International in San Diego
