Though it's not scheduled for release for nearly two years and hasn't started production, Vin Diesel has kept his foot firmly on the "Fast and Furious 8" promotional pedal. Today, the actor shared an image via Instagram -- which has not been released via Universal Studios channels and may be fan art or otherwise unofficial -- once again suggesting a New York City setting, and stating the film is coming in "Summer 2017."

At CinemaCon last month, Diesel announced "Furious 8" (official title yet to be revealed) for April 14, 2017. It's currently unknown whether the image is an indication the movie has moved into the more traditional summer months or just that "Summer" in the tentpole movie world effectively starts in April already ("Furious 7" was released this past April and passed the $1 billion mark in 17 days) -- or if it really has any significance at all beyond something that Diesel thought was cool. SPINOFF has reached out to Universal on the image and the release date, and has not received a response upon publication.

One thing that does appear confirmed about "Furious 8" is that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson appears set to return as Luke Hobbs. In a report from Nerd Reactor last week, Johnson said he'll "of course" be back for the eighth film in the franchise.

But while any new film is around two years away, the "Fast & Furious: Supercharged" ride is set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood in about a month. Here's a freshly released poster for the ride, starring Johnson:
