Dark Horse has announced that Victor Santos' graphic novel "Polar: Came from the Cold" is headed for a film adaptation courtesy of the publisher's entertainment division and Constantin Film. Constantin has already purchased a spec script based on the project written by Jayson Rothwell. Both companies are currently seeking directors, hoping to begin shooting the feature in spring 2015.

Santos' "Polar" started life as an online webcomic and was released in print by Dark Horse Comics in November 2013. Following the story of Black Kaiser, a master assassin forced out of retirement when hitmen come after him, "Polar" sees the protagonist fighting for his life while protecting the child of one of his former targets. The comic is currently in its third season online. Santos' other work includes "Furious," "Black Market," "Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters" and more.

Constantin Film's Robert Kulzer and Jeremy Bolt, as well as Dark Horse's Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg are onboard to produce the feature.
