Once expected to commence production on Sept. 1, work on the Venom movie has reportedly been delayed for a month. Filming in Atlanta and New York City, the new production start date for the movie is Oct. 23.

The news comes from Omega Underground, which has been covering the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off from Sony Pictures. Atlanta is a hotspot for blockbuster filming these days, making it hard for big movies such as Venom to find available crew members -- and they have to fit the movie into Tom Hardy's tight schedule, of course.

Despite Sony allowing Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that Venom will exist outside of the company's continuity. When asked whether the movie will be canon for the MCU, Feige said: "No, I think they’re focusing on making a great Venom movie, and I don’t know much about it, but I know they’re off to a good start with Tom Hardy.”

Written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, the Ruben Fleischer-helmed Venom is expected to begin filming this September before swinging into theaters Oct. 5, 2018. It stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, and Riz Ahmed is in talks to star in the movie, too.
