Matthew Vaughn has signed on as producer for Fox's "Fantastic Four" reboot.

While most recent news surrounding Fox's stable of Marvel films has revolved around the X-Men universe with James Mangold's "The Wolverine" and Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Fox creative consultant Mark Millar brought a new development for the studio's "Fantastic Four" reboot directed by "Chronicle's" Josh Trank. Millar revealed, via Twitter that "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn will return to the Marvel Universe as producer on Trank's reboot about Marvel's First Family.

"Just got off the phone with Fox and some excellent news - Matthew Vaughn is producing Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot!" Millar announced today on Twitter.

Vaughn is no stranger to comic book movies -- in addition to directing "X-Men: First Class," he also helmed the film adaptation of Millar's "Kick-Ass" and Neil Gaiman's "Stardust" and is serving as producer on "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Kick-Ass 2." Vaughn signing on as producer is the first major development for the "Fantastic Four" reboot since Trank was brought on to direct, with Millar teasing in January that the reboot will be "reminiscent of 'Alien' in some ways."

"From what I've seen and from talking to [Josh Trank] -- he and I have had dinner a couple of times and we talk quite regularly as well -- he's contemporarizing it. I think he's just making it work for the screen -- he's a great storyteller," Millar said in January. "'Chronicle,' if you think about it, was similar to 'Fantastic Four' in that it was a bunch of people who were transformed into something more than human -- that turned out almost his calling card to come and do something like 'Fantastic Four.'"

Trank's "Fantastic Four" is scheduled to hit theaters March 6, 2015.
