Issue #1 of Image Comics series "Chrononauts" debuted in comic stores on Wednesday, and has a movie deal on Thursday. Deadline has word that Universal Pictures has optioned the series by writer Mark Millar and artist Sean Gordon Murphy, continuing Millar's streak of landing Hollywood deals for his creator-owned projects.

Chris Morgan, who has written multiple films in "The Fast and The Furious" franchise, will produce the film, with Millar and Gordon on board as executive producers. "Chrononauts" is about the first time-travelers in history, scientists Dr. Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly.

On Twitter, Millar commented, "'I swear I shall not rest until every brilliant comic-book artist I love, respect and follow has a nice movie-deal' - Millar, 2015." "Kingsman: The Secret Service," based on a comic book series by Millar and Dave Gibbons, was released last month; multiple other Millar-written creator-owned series have film deals in the works including "Starlight" at 20th Century Fox and "MPH" with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. "Wanted" and both "Kick-Ass" films were based on his co-creations, and 2016's "Captain America: Civil War" is based in part on the 2006 miniseries by Millar and artist Steve McNiven.
