It looks like the newest animated adventures of Spider-Man, “Ultimate Spider-Man,” is swinging back for a second season. The second season comes after the news of “Avengers Assemble” replacing “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” in Marvel Universe programming block on Disney XD.
“We are very excited about the return of ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ inside the Marvel Universe on Disney XD,” Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said via press release. “With season two, the series introduces popular Marvel heroes and villains you’ve never seen before on the small screen. With more action, more excitement, more humor, this is the ultimate Spider-Man for fans of all ages.”
Airs on Disney XD
As long as we’re exploring ol’ Web Head in other media, Crave Online spoke with “Amazing Spider-Man” producer Avi Arad, who spoke briefly about the possibility of merging the new status quo of the upcoming reboot with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Everything is possible,” Arad told Crave Online. “If something like that happens, it’s great for Disney, it’s great for Sony. If the right story comes in, we are now working on ‘Venom’ first. It’s our first out. So our thinking is in the right direction. ‘Avengers’ to me was an expected success so I never looked at it because ‘Avengers’ was successful.”
While Spidey never actually showed up in “The Avengers,” there was a rampant rumor leading to release that he actually had a cameo in the film. The rumor was later debunked by Joss Whedon.

Arad also spoke with Hollywood.com about the central conceit of Josh Trank’s “Venom,” which takes place in the same status quo set by “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
“It’s an Eddie Brock story,” Arad told Hollywood.com. “We want to be as close to the comics as possible. Especially in Eddie Brock’s story. But again, pseudo-sceince is becoming science. All these tidbits about webs, artificial webs, is a huge industry now. Spiderwebs have unique qualities that will be huge for communications, fibers, and so forth. So we have taken the approach that we want to make the huge amazing movie about Eddie.”
Producer Matt Tolmach also chimed in about Brock’s character, mentioning he would be more grounded.
“He was a journalist. He had the wrong story, he got in trouble for it, he got fired,” Tolmach said. “The whole essence to us for the Marvel characters. Stay close to the bible, stay close to the emotional story, and the rest is fun.”
THE WALKING DEAD
“The Walking Dead” Forums has posted a few new photos of some behind-the-scenes photos of season three, including the return of an old friend. The photos are pretty spoiler-riffic, so proceed with caution. Here’s a decently non-spoiler image of a barricade in front of Woodbury.
Season Three premieres October on AMC
Much like Don Cheadle took over the role of James Rhodes in “Iron Man 2” from Terrance Howard, it looks like there’s a similar situation going on for “Thor 2.” Zachary Levi may take over the role of Fandral from Josh Dallas, who has chosen not to return to the role due to his commitments for “Once Upon a Time.”
Levi, best known for his starring role in the fan-favorite television show “Chuck,” was in talks to portray Fandral in “Thor,” but dropped out when “Chuck” got a fourth season.
Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth spoke with MTV about his “Snow White and the Huntsman” co-star Charlize Theron possibly portraying The Enchantress in “Thor 2.”
“Well she certainly plays a pretty intimidating villain, I think she’d be awesome but I think she’s tied up in 20 other films,” Hemsworth told MTV. “I think she’s going on to ‘Mad Max’ next. [But] you never know. Fingers crossed.”

More casting news for the “Robocop” remake from Deadline. According to the news outlet, Abbie Cornish has been offered the female lead in the film, Robocop’s wife — but unfortunately, that’s pretty much all the information that’s been offered. No reveal on the name or scope of the role other than the fact that Cornish will play the wife of the near-death cop who becomes Robocop.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2
Lucas Till, who played Havok in “X-Men: First Class,” spoke with IGN at E3 2012 about what he wants from his character in the upcoming sequel.
“All I know is that my mom told me we’re going to start shooting in January. It’s funny because she tells me everything that goes on before I know,” Till told IGN. “I don’t know if you saw, but Havok shoots hula hoops out of his body. I remember when (director Matthew Vaughn) told me, and I was like, ‘NOOOO!’ It’s going to ruin it for all the fans of Havok and I tried to make the best of it, but I really hope in the next one that the chest piece-because there’s always that circle in the middle so you could tell where his power level was at-but not necessarily used as a device to channel the energy from. I want some gauntlets or something to shoot it out of my hands, and I want Polaris in there. I want a sexy green-haired girl to fall in love with. That’s all I’m asking for.”
