Official Press Release
The special two-part saga “Think Tank” running through Ultimate Fantastic Four #19-20 has sold out at both Marvel and Diamond Comics. The spectacular arc by writer Mike Carey and artist Jae Lee continued a proud tradition by introducing the First Family of comics to the Ultimate Universe a deadly new villain, the Thinker.
Carey felt honored by helping to shape a new tradition for such iconic characters. “The Fantastic Four really have stepped off the edge of the superhero genre into actual myth. Writing them feels like adding a single brick to a wall that’s already way up out of the atmosphere. And in their Ultimate versions, you get the added weirdness of adding bricks to the base of the wall, rather than the top. It was a huge blast.”
Ultimate Fantastic Four #19-20 has been receiving glowing reviews including one from Ryan Broussard of comixtreme.com who wrote, “Carey did an excellent job of writing a story that was very villain character driven and really read well…the art by Jae Lee was incredible.”
Marvel Editor in Chief Joe Quesada proclaimed, “This is really turning out to be the year of the Fab Four, not the Beatles of course but the Fantastic Four. Not only are the FF certified movie stars, not only is the Straczynski FF a certifiable hit, but Ultimate FF issues 19-20 by Mike Carey and Jae Lee are certifiably SOLD OUT! Mike and Jae did a stellar job with this two issue fill in arc and fans and retailers have noticed, kudos to the entire team!”
“Thanks to all the retailers and fans for making these two issues a success,” says Marvel’s Director of Sales David Gabriel. “And don’t ignore the last few panels of issue #20. Millar and Land have an explosive beginning to their run following on the heels of 19 and 20 with Crossover. Ultimate Fantastic Four is sure to keep fans talking throughout the summer.”
ULTIMATE FF 21 is on sale July 13th and available with two covers (MAY051750 and APR058305) for twice the excitement!
