Along with the release of Marvel's "U.S.Avengers" #1 in stores today comes the arrival of the issue's much discussed state variants. The debut issue of the new Avengers series came with dozens of variant covers, each one highlighting a different hero and state (and Puerto Rico, Canada and the UK as well). Marvel has been keeping track of how many copies were ordered of each particular variant and, with "U.S.Avengers" #1 now in stores, they've released the final results of the impromptu competition.

Texas (Firebird) and New York (Luke Cage) take the top spots, with Canada (Deadpool) coming in third. The UK (Captain Britain) fell out of the top ten just before the release of the final tally, making room for New Hampshire (Spider-Man).

“U.S. Avengers” follows the rise of a retooled A.I.M. — a former enemy entity that used super science to advance its villainous power — now structured as a super-spy organization that oversees national security. Ewing told CBR that “the U.S. is going to be relying much more on their own secret agencies — the C.I.A., the N.S.A, and A.I.M., which will be handling the more outrageous elements.” He added, “Naturally, S.H.I.E.L.D. and their sympathizers within the government will be watching to see the new kids screw up.”
