The website Cinema Blend is talking about a rumor that “Star Trek: Voyager” actor Ethan Phillips has been cast in the giant robot film.

According to Variety (subscription required) New Line has bought film rights to the Howard Chaykin graphic novel and has set up the project with Chris Bender and JC Spink through their Benderspink banner.
Movieweb has some quotes from actor Lou Diamond Phillips about the planned series. “I can say just having been on the set,” Phillips said, “having been with Ving and Justin Hartley, who is amazing and I think is gonna blow up, we nailed it, man. It was a wonderful script and it was so much enthusiasm and so much heart, and I have to say an incredible amount of support. From the network, from the studio and I think everybody had high hopes for it.”
There’s a really spoilerish photo making the rounds at the XMenFilms message boards showing two characters getting romantic, while the main site also has a summary of the main characters by director Brett Ratner.
Kryptonsite has the official network description of the April 20th episode “Mercy,” as well as screen captures of the trailer for next week’s episode “Void” and very spoiler-esque photos from the April 13th episode “Fragile.”
In other news, actress Erica Durance will be appearing at Wizard World Philadelphia on June 3rd.
Keeping it international, this Swedish site has an interview with director Mikael HŒfstršm (“Derailed”), who claimed he was in negotiations with Marvel to helm the man-in-machine adaptation.
