Good to their word, Paramount Pictures and director Michael Bay have unleashed the teaser trailer for "Transformers: The Last Knight" -- a full 10 days earlier than originally planned.

Though light on story details, the action-packed trailer does offer one intriguing piece of new information. After a (self-imposed?) exile in space, Optimus Prime returns to Earth -- just in time to attempt to kill Bumblebee. While we know the popular yellow Autobot will survive his leader's attack -- he does have a solo film in the works, after all -- the question remains as to why Prime would even consider harming his friend and compatriot in the first place, and what will happen in the aftermath of the attempted robocide.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" arrives in Summer 2017, as the studio and toymaker Hasbro plot an expansion of the $3.78 billion series that includes at the previously mentioned Bumblebee spinoff slated for 2018, another Transformers sequel in 2019, and a possible origin movie for the constantly warring Autobots and Decepticons.
