Although director Michael Bay teased just a week ago that the first trailer for "Transformers: The Last Knight" would premiere Dec. 16 with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," there's been a change of plans. It's now arriving Monday.

The announcement was made this afternoon on Twitter with a rapid-fire compilation of production video and photos that ends with the film's logo and the words "Trailer Tomorrow." It doesn't get much more straightforward than that.

The fifth installment of Paramount Pictures' blockbuster franchise, and Bay's last as director, “The Last Knight” marks the return of franchise veterans Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro for what appears to be a centuries-spanning adventure, with stops in the Middle Ages, World War II and the present day. There's even a role for King Arthur.

The film arrives next summer, as the studio and toymaker Hasbro plot an expansion of the $3.78 billion series that includes a 2018 Bumblebee spinoff, a 2019 Transformers sequel and a possible origin movie for the Autobots and Decepticons.

Opening June 23, 2017, “Transformers: The Last Knight” also stars Isabela Moner, Liam Garrigan, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock, Santago Cabrera and Anthony Hopkins, and features the voices of Peter Cullen, John Goodman and others.
