Following the announcement this morning of the release dates for three "Transformers" sequels, Hasbro has confirmed that one of those is the rumored Bumblebee spinoff.

The film, characterized by Hasbro in an email as "the never-before-heard story of Bumblebee," is set to arrive June 8, 2018.

The spinoff was first mentioned in May by Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, who spoke of it only as a possibility. “Many of you know Bumblebee, the yellow Camaro, formally known as a yellow VW Bug, and he is a beloved character by kids all over the world," he told investors. "We could see stories told around Bumblebee and other characters.”

A rumor also circulated around the same time of a "Transformers" origin film set on Cybertron. However, there's been no additional word on that.

"Transformers 5," directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, arrives June 23, 2017, followed by the Bumbleebee movie in 2018, and a third, unspecified franchise installment on June 28, 2019.
