Like many studios, Paramount Pictures is looking to China to increase its box-office haul, and will partner with China Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprises to produce Michael Bay’s Transformers 4.
According to The L.A. Times, the deal calls for part of the film to be shot in China and include Chinese actors. China has become a major market for movies, with Transformers: Dark of the Moon earning $165 million there in 2011.
The sequel, which stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor, will kick off a new trilogy. It opens June 27, 2014.
