This week might have seen the release of a brand new "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trailer and Back to the Future Day, but when it comes to collectibles, DC Comics' stable of characters easily won the day, accounting for more than half of this week's entries. DC Collectibles, Mezco, Sideshow Collectibles and Figures Toy Company all showed off figures based on everyone from "The Dark Knight Returns" villain Mutant Leader to Plastic Man, but video games also made a solid showing with a gaggle of "Assassin's Creed" toys from Funko and Vinyl Sugar as well as a Simon Belmont statue from "Castlevania."

DC COLLECTIBLES | The latest batch of DC Collectibles solicits featured a bunch of familiar faces, both in the sense that we've seen some of these pieces before and because they're such popular characters. The "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" Wonder Woman and "Supergirl" statues were both shown off earlier this season, but you can also check out the 12.5-inch-tall Reverse Flash statue and replica of Captain Cold's gun, both based on the hit CW series "The Flash." Finally, Firestorm, John Stewart and the Joker will make their way into the DC Comics Icons line of 6-inch figures, each rolling in with a variety of extra hands and accessories. Look for the super ladies to debut in March and everything else to hit in May.

AQUAMAN | He's the King of the Seven Seas, and DC's Aquaman will also get some statue love, this time from Sideshow Collectibles. The latest addition to the DC Premium Format line of polystone statues, this piece stands 27.25 inches from wave splashed base to the tip of his trident and ships in the fall. If you go for the Sideshow Exclusive version, you'll also score a bearded face and swap-out hook hand to go for that more rugged (i.e. '90s) look.

THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS | Mezco has quite a few new pieces in line for the One:12 Collective line which offers highly articulated and incredibly accurate 1/12 scale action figures of a variety of characters. The next one up for pre-order is the Mutant Leader from Frank Miller's seminal "The Dark Knight Returns." The figure comes with alternate heads and hands plus a torch, crowbar and a display stand, but we assume most people will pose this figure crushed under Dark Knight Batman's boot. Mutant Leader ships this winter.

WORLD'S GREATEST HEROES | The third wave of Figures Toy Company's Wold's Greatest Heroes Super Powers line of retro comic toys does a solid job of rounding out the line with a few more Justice Leaguers. Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter and Plastic Man all join the squad in Mego-esque fashion complete with a punch-throwing action feature this time around. The 8-inch toys ship in February.

BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II | As mentioned above, March 21, 2015 holds a special place in the hearts and minds of "Back to the Future" fans -- and the public at large if the onslaught of media about the day is any indication. Hot Toys got in on the action by teasing their "Back to the Future Part II" Marty McFly action figure which comes with futuristic Nikes and the iconic Hoverboard. This image is all we have to go on for now, but we'll keep you posted on further updates.

CASTLEVANIA | Simon Belmont never looked so good, not even on "Captain N: The Game Master!" The famed vampire hunter first introduced to NES fans in 1987's classic "Castlevania" quickly became one of gaming's number one monster hunters thanks to a series of games still going strong to this day. First 4 Figure captures Simon in all his Vampire Killer-swinging glory with this limited-to-750-piece, 20-inch statue. Those who spring for the limited-to-299-piece F4F exclusive version also score different hands wielding the Boomerang Cross and the Short Chain. Both versions ship early next year.

ASSASSIN'S CREED | For pieces based on a more modern video game franchise look no further than the "Assassin's Creed" toys coming out from Funko and Vinyl Sugar. The former will have Pop Vinyls of "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" stars Jacob and Evie Frye in January while the latter boasts a line of franchise-spanning Dorbz hitting in February. The Dorbz line-up includes Altair, Ezio, Edward, Arno, Elise and Jacob just as you remember them from the games: as bright, smiling imps.
