Here is an archive of all the past top five lists I've one over the years.

As you may or may not know, the 1990s were the decade of the jacket at Marvel Comics. DC Comics also had some notable jacket-wearers (Superboy and Diana during her time as just "Diana" being two notable examples) but Marvel made it practically a prerequisite for being a hero during the 1990s. Here, then, are the top five jacket-wearing superhero teams at Marvel in the 1990s.

Enjoy!

5 (Tie). X-Factor and X-Force

These two teams were really ahead of the trend for jacket-wearing teams, but they only mildly embraced the trend. You would think they would be more into it, but they really weren't.

Rob Liefeld first re-designed the New Mutants' costumes in New Mutants #90, but they didn't have a lot of jackets...

Here they all are in action...

When Liefeld re-designed the costumes for the debut of X-Force, he gave Boom Boom and Cannonball jackets...

It is a bit hard to see Cannonball's jacket there, so here's a closer look...

Havok was often noted by his weird head gear...

By the end of his time in the X-Men, though, he rarely actually wore the thing, even when on missions with the X-Men...

So when he popped back up in X-Tinction Agenda as a Genoshan Magistrate, Jim Lee kept him without the head gear...

Madrox had been wearing that odd green costume for years and he wore it right up to the end of the Muir Isle Saga...

Guido just didn't wear a costume period.

All three of them wore jackets as part of X-Factor...

But two of them wore jackets that were really more uniforms, like Cannonball and Boom Boom. What we're looking more for is superfluous jackets there just for the hell of it (design-wise).

4. New Warriors

While plenty of other characters introduced in the pages of the New Warriors wore trenchcoats and jackets, none of the New Warriors did...

Darick Robertson, though, began to add them to the group, with Firestar getting a costume with a jacket...

Then characters Bandit and PowerPax (Alex Power using the powers of the rest of Power Pack) wore jackets...

And then the capper - SPEEDBALL started wearing a trenchcoat!!

3. The X-Men

You would think that the X-Men would be higher on the list, as Gambit DEBUTED wearing a jacket over his costume for no apparent reason and then Rogue famously got the Jim Lee costume with the jacket for no reason...

But beyond those two characters (one of whom had ALWAYS had that look), they didn't go to the jacket look as much as you might expect.

Outside of a mission to a cold part of Russia, where most of the team wore jackets...

Leading to the awesome sight of Psylocke "keeping warm" with the jacket while, you know, not wearing any pants...

Jackets were not that common for the rest of the X-Men. They DID wear them on occasion, it just wasn't that big of a thing.

Go to the next page for the top two!

2. Fantastic Four

Despite only half the team wearing jackets (plus Reed wearing a vest), the FF ranks so high for the sheer absurdity of Sue walking around in Fantastic Four #375 with her boob cut out costume...but a jacket, as well!

And, of course, Johnny ON FIRE wearing a jacket...

Those are just some awesomely weird visuals.

1. Avengers

The Avengers jacket plague started innocently enough when, in Avengers #346, Sersi whipped up a couple of jackets for herself and Crystal while on a mission on an alien planet...

When they returned to Earth, though, in Avengers #348, Crystal was still wearing her jacket, although it had not spread to the others yet...

By the next issue, Black Knight was under the spell...

But on missions, they still ditched the jackets for a time...

In Avengers #355, Black Widow was taken...

And by Avengeers #358, the jackets were just part of their official costumes while on missions...

Okay, that's the top five!
