This Top Five features what I think are the top five scenes from Sean Whitmore's Fanboy Productions site that I have recommended to you folks in the past. It's about as fun as superhero comic parodies can get.

HONORABLE MENTIONS - Hawkeye arrow jokes.

One of the recurring shticks in Sean's parodies is Hawkeye, and specifically his over willingness to shoot people with arrows first, and ask questions later.

My two favorite bits involving this are as follows:

First, Hawkeye accurately lamenting what the loss of his bow does to him...

Secondly, in a bit that I loved when I first read, but I think the joke has dulled a bit in time, we see Hawkeye's version of a "memory-erasing arrow" (in a parody of the mind-wipes in Identity Crisis).

5. In the beginning of House of M, the Avengers and X-Men team-up to discuss what should be done with the Scarlet Witch after the events of Avengers Disassembled. Should they let a being that powerful and that unstable exist? Or should they kill her?

Sean parodies the killing notion with this observation about a particular character's absence from the group meetings...

4. During Avengers Disassembled, Iron Man stops a She-Hulk rampage by flying up and taking her out with basically one punch.

Here, Sean parodies that scene, demonstrating that continuity certainly CAN be a bitch...

3. In his parody of Mark Millar's run on Marvel Knights: Spider-Man (which was essentially modeled after Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's Hush storyline, leading Sean to dub the parody "Shush"), Sean has Spider-Man turn to Mac Gargan, the Scorpion, for help in finding his Aunt May, and when Mac doesn't believe that he is a private eye, Spider-Man shows him in a most amusing manner...

2. In his Infinite Crisis parody, Sean makes a pointed statement about Batman's "detective methods" which is particularly funny because it is, you know, true!

1. The top bit was a lot funnier at the time, when you have to realize, it seemed like every Spider-Man comic involved the Green Goblin. Therefore, in this parody of how Mac Gargan became Venom, this gave Sean perfect parody fodder, leading to this awesome parody of the Green Goblin's omnipresence in the Spider-Man titles, but even without that total knowledge, this parody is still a strong one...
