After looming large as the main villain on FX series “The Shield” and “Justified,” Walton Goggins is reportedly in talks to play the main villain in Warner Bros.’ rebooted “Tomb Raider” movie.
Best known for his roles as Detective Shane Vendrell in “The Shield” and Boyd Crowder on “Justified,” Goggins also appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight.” Most recently, Goggins has been co-starring in the HBO series “Vice Principals” alongside Danny McBride.
Lara Croft’s last cinematic adaptation was 2003’s “Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,” the second outing for original star Angelina Jolie. Dark Horse Comics is currently publishing an ongoing “Tomb Raider” comic book series by writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Phillip Sevy which follows the game’s rebooted continuity — a road the film is reportedly poised to travel down as well.
“Tomb Raider” is slated to hit theaters March 16, 2018.
