With the new team of writer John Ney Reiber and penciller Randy Green taking over Tomb Raider with issue #21, Top Cow has adorned this special issue with a black cover with gold foil at no additional charge to fans or retailers. The original cover penciled by new series artist Randy Green will be a second cover stapled beneath the all black cover (not a variant).
“The black cover with foil worked well for Witchblade #54 and we received a lot of positive feedback from retailers,” says Top Cow President Matt Hawkins. “We don’t intend to make this an ongoing theme for our books, we simply wanted to do something to call attention to the new creative teams on Tomb Raider and Witchblade.”
The storyline in this special issue shipping in stores tomorrow takes Lara Croft high in Tibet to the Taktsang Ravine where she searches for the Black Mandala.
“The Playstation 2 Tomb Raider game launches in November,” says Top Cow Marketing Director Frank Mastromauro. “We’re working with Eidos and several video game magazines to draw attention to the comic series with several special promotions both inside and outside of the comic market.”
Top Cow was founded in December of 1992 and currently publishes its line of comic books in 18 languages in over 55 different countries.
