Next week's Image Expo is sure to contain multiple announcements of new series, and one of them will come from Todd McFarlane: The "Spawn" creator said Friday on Facebook that he'll reveal the first details of a new series at the event -- and the first eight issues are already completed.

"It's an idea that I've had for a while... and it's finally coming to fruition," McFarlane wrote. "Plus all the issues of this initial 8-issue miniseries are COMPLETELY done. That's right... over 180 pages of the story are finished."

McFarlane also stated that he'll talk more about the upcoming "Spawn" #250 at Image Expo, the anniversary issue set to bring Al Simmons back to the title role. That issue will lead directly to the "Spawn Resurrection" one-shot, solicited for release in February and intended to establish the book's new status quo. Brian Wood was slated to be the new writer of the long-running Image series, but announced late last month that he was "removed from the job." A new series writer has not yet been named.

Image Expo will take place Thursday, Jan. 8 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. CBR will be there on site and reporting live, with all of the latest news from the show.
