Titans has been renewed for a fourth season on HBO Max.

The announcement was made during DC FanDome, the series also showing a clip from its Season 3 finale featuring Beast Boy, Nightwing, Red Hood and Tim Drake, who has yet to assume the mantle of Robin like in the comics. Every season of the series so far has consisted of 13 episodes, save for the first season, which only featured 11 episodes. The series' renewal shows that there is much more story to be told with these young adult heroes.

Let's go back to the beginning and discuss each season thus far. The first season originally released on DC Universe in 2018, serving as one of the platform's first original series to be shown when it launched. The first season introduced viewers to the core Titans cast of Robin (before he became Nightwing, played by Brenton Thwaites), Raven (Teagan Croft), Starfire (Anna Diop) and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter). They were later joined by Hawk (Alan Ritchson), Dove (Minka Kelly), Donna Troy (Conor Leslie) and Jason Todd's Robin (pre-Red Hood, Curran Walters) to take on Raven's father, Trigon.

Season 2 then picked up where the Season 1 finale left off. With Trigon defeated, the Titans were officially reunited as a super team, the announcement being made to the world and attracting the wrong kind of attention from Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke. The Titans were joined by new members, such as Rose Wilson (Chelsea Zhang), Jericho (Chelle Man) and Superboy (Joshua Orpin), though the only person to return in Season 3 so far has been Orpin. The season ended with Deathstroke's death and Jason Todd ostracized from the Titans, returning to Wayne Manor.

This is where Season 3 picked up on a new platform, HBO Max, with a story taken straight from the pages of Batman: Death in the Family: the death of Jason Todd. In this version though, Jason's loss weighed so heavily on Bruce Wayne, he killed Jason's murderer, the Joker, and abandoned Gotham. With the city without a Batman, the Titans stepped up to protect its people, having to face their old teammate, Jason (now resurrected as Red Hood), and his new twisted mentor, Scarecrow. The season has also introduced Tim Drake (Jay Lycurgo) and featured Starfire's sister, Blackfire (Damaris Lewis) in a more prominent role.

The current season has seen Scarecrow take control over the city with a fear-removing drug and bringing the Gotham City Police Department under his payroll and control. He has manipulated the city through the media to make the Titans appear as the true enemies of the public. With this season's Episode 12 "Prodigal" placing Gotham in more danger than ever as Scarecrow regains possession of a massive amount of fear toxin to destroy the city, fans will have to tune in to the finale on Oct. 21 to see what fallout will remain for Season 4 to address, and theorize what may happen next.
