A new casting call for Season 3 of Titans hints that a now-obscure DC character may become a major player on the DC Universe show.

The casting call is reportedly for the role of Daniel, a 16-to-17-year-old who comes from a rough background and is a prodigy with a knack for detective work. Specifically, the producers want an 18-year-old South Asian male for the part, and according to The Illuminerdi, the Daniel in question is Danny Chase.

Created by Marv Wolfman and Mike Collins, Danny first appeared in 1987's New Teen Titans Annual #2. The son of a married spy couple, Danny was a genius with a photographic memory and investigative skills who also developed telekinetic powers after being exposed to radiation.

Although Danny did not have a particularly tough time growing up and was Caucasian rather than South Asian in the comics, the similarities to the character described in the casting call are still worth noting. Danny was briefly an official member of the Teen Titans and eventually took on the costumed identity of Phantasm, but soon sacrificed his life to save Raven's home of Azarath.
