The Titans live-action TV series has found its Beast Boy, with Warner Bros. Television officially announcing the casting of Ryan Potter as Garfield "Gar" Logan.

Here's the official Beast Boy character description, which looks to stick pretty close to the character's comic book roots:

As a child, Garfield “Gar” Logan contracted the lethal disease, Sakutia, while on an African expedition with his geneticist parents. Treated with an experimental drug, Gar survived but not without developing some bizarre side effects. Along with skin and hair turning permanently green, the wisecracking, fun-loving Beast Boy is able to reshape himself into any animal of any size he can imagine.

Potter, 22, is best known as the voice of lead character Hiro Hamada in the 2014 Disney animated hit, Big Hero 6, based on the Marvel Comics team. He's set to return to that character in Disney XD's animated Big Hero 6: The Series. In live-action, his most prominent role has been as the main character of Nickelodeon's Supah Ninjas from 2011 to 2013.

Potter being cast as a DC Comics superhero is something the actor has hoped for -- in 2016, he posted a video of himself performing martial arts under the title "Tim Drake Concept Fight," and requested Ben Affleck consider him for the role of Tim Drake, DC's third Robin. In 2015, he expressed interest in the role of Spider-Man via Twitter, a move that saw the half-Japanese actor gain support from the website The Nerds of Color.

Beast Boy was created in Arnold Drake and Bob Brown and introduced in 1965's Doom Patrol #99, and later became a pivotal part of the celebrated Marv Wolfman and George Pérez run on Teen Titans. In recent years, the character has been one of the main characters of Cartoon Network's Teen Titans Go!, as voiced by Greg Cipes.

Titans is set to debut in 2018 on DC's as-yet untitled digital service, from executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Here's the logline: "In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever."

Potter joins a cast already including Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach, Dick Grayson's police detective partner. Keep reading CBR for the latest on Titans.
