Titan Comics & Hammer Films Team-Up For Line Of Horror Comics

British publisher Titan Comics is partnering with Hammer Films to produce a new line of comics. Announced during the ComicsPRO retailer conference, Titan’s new batch of horror comics will feature adaptations of classic Hammer titles as well as all-new properties. The line will launch in time for Halloween of this year.

“Hammer is the home of some of the most groundbreaking horror and genre films in motion picture history,” said Titan editor David Leach in a statement. “Together, we’re going to make some terrifyingly good comics.”

While no specific titles or creators were named, Hammer Films has a massive library to pull from. The British production company launched in 1934 but didn’t dive deep into the horror genre until 1955 with the release of “The Quatermass Experiment.” “The Curse of Frankenstein” followed in 1957 and “Dracula,” starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, arrived in 1958. Hammer’s continued to produce horror films into the ’60s and ’70s, becoming known for their unique gothic aesthetic. The production company remained dormant from 1979 to 2008 after almost falling into bankruptcy; since then, they’ve produced “The Woman in Black,” “The Quiet Ones” and “Let Me In.”
