In light of "Heroes Reborn's" upcoming series finale, creator Tim Kring has issued a statement to share his original plan for the miniseries and his intention to create more stories in the "Heroes" saga.

"I've said from the beginning that 'Heroes Reborn' would be 13 episodes long, with a beginning, middle and end," Kring explained to TVInsider. "I know word has been circulating that 'Heroes Reborn' has been 'canceled,' but I want to assure you that tonight's finale is exactly the ending we've had planned from the very beginning."

"I've also stated that if there was going to be more story, it would not be part of 'Heroes Reborn,' but rather some future volume with a brand new story.  Let me just say clearly for the record -- the 'Heroes' universe is designed to be large and multi-platformed," he continued. "I think you will see that tonight’s final episode clearly leaves the door open for us to tell more stories within the 'Heroes' saga."

"Until then, I want to offer my heartfelt gratitude to the many fans of 'Heroes' and 'Heroes Reborn' for your loyal and unwavering support.  Stay tuned.  There is more to come," he concluded.

Last week, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced the conclusion of the series at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour and added, "As far as I know, there's no more incarnations of 'Heroes' coming."

"Heroes Reborn" stars franchise veterans Jack Coleman, Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg, Jimmy Jean-Louis and Cristine Rose, joined by a cast of newcomers that includes Zachary Levi, Kiki Sukezane, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Ryan Guzman, Henry Zebrowski, Gatlin Green, Dylan Bruce, Francesca Eastwood and Nazneen Contractor.

The series finale will air on Thursday, January 21 at 8 pm EST on NBC.
