In August, the photo above teased a fight between Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. Now, a new clip from the film shows the Marvel Cinematic Universe's newest warrior besting the trickster in hand-to-hand combat.

The clip shows Valkyrie and Loki fighting, quickly and with what appears to be deadly intent, and while Loki is a proficient fighter, she easily bests him in their battle. In the footage, Thompson describes Valkyrie as an "elite warrior of Asgard," and Loki exclaims, "You're Valkyrie" at the start of the footage, looking somewhat surprised to encounter her.

Based off Norse mythology's Brynhildr, Valkyrie was created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema. Odin put Valkyrie, also known as Brunnhilde, in charge of the Valkyrior, who were assigned to bring worthy souls to Valhalla. Those that they do not choose go the realm of the dead, which is ruled by Hela (Cate Blanchett). The character's filmic incarnation will supposedly differ a fair bit from the comics. Prior to Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie's fight with Hela left her on the planet of Sakaar, where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will fight the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Arriving Nov. 3, director Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
