Chris Hemsworth's thunder god has an unexpected reunion with the Incredible Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, but his introduction to Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie may have the greater impact on the young hero.

“It’s like Thor’s meeting his hero,” Hemsworth said during a visit to the film's set by Collider and other outlets. “He’s absolutely smitten by her, and because of her history being Valkyrie and all that. But she’s also this beautiful woman, so he’s kind of caught off guard. She could have him if she wanted. I think he hasn’t come up against that very often.”

Their dynamic is decidedly different from Thor's relationship to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) in the first two installments of the franchise.

“Valkyrie becomes sort of a part of this team,” Thompson explained. “When we meet her, she’s hanging out on another planet called Sakaar and she is sort of this Asgardian expat … She meets Thor and Hulk, and she has sort of a similar goal that they do. They become friends and kind of teammates in a way.”

Arriving Nov. 3, director Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
