"Creed" star Tessa Thompson has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Deadline, she will play "a kind of superhero" as well as Thor's love interest in "Thor: Ragnarok" and appear in other Marvel films.

In "Creed," Thompson played Bianca opposite Michael B. Jordan's Adonis Johnson. She currently has a starring role in HBO's "Westworld" and will appear with Natalie Portman in Alex Garland's "Annihilation." Her past credits also include "Selma," "Dear White People" and "666 Park Avenue."

Thompson will join new cast member Cate Blanchett, who is rumored to play Hela. Mark Ruffalo will also reprise his role as Bruce Banner/the Hulk in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter's report, Natalie Portman will not return as Jane Foster.

Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, "Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to open on November 3, 2017.
