Chuck star Zachary Levi, who was considered for the role of Fandral in Thor, may finally join the Warriors Three in the Marvel sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "an offer is imminent" for Levi to replace Josh Dallas, who's unable to return as the egotistical swordsman because of a scheduling conflict with ABC's Once Upon a Time. Production of the second season of the fairy-tale drama, on which Dallas plays Prince Charming, is expected to begin next month in Vancouver.

“I’ll be missing out on wearing all that hair,” the actor told EW.com. “The timing wasn’t right. I’m bummed about it because I had such a great experience and great time making the first film and was really excited about coming back. Marvel and Disney tried to make it work. But because of my commitment to Once Upon a Time, I was not going to be able to do both. So I’ll have to hand the reins over to someone else. I love Marvel. I wish them all the best. I will certainly be first in line to see it."

Levi can certainly sympathize. He was originally in talks to play Fandral in 2010 but had to drop out after NBC gave his cult action-comedy Chuck a last-minute pickup for a fourth season.

Production of Thor 2 is expected to begin in July, with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor joined by returning stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba (presumably the other two-thirds of the Warriors Three, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano, appear as well). Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) is in talks to play an unnamed villain.

Thor 2 opens Nov. 8, 2013.
