Official Press Release
This week (November 27-December 1) Jim Hanley’s Universe welcomes some of the biggest superstars in pop culture and comics to New York City and to midtown Manhattan!
First up, Jim Hanley’s Universe is honored and proud to welcome one of the biggest and best horror filmmakers in the world, GUILLERMO DEL TORO! Mr. del Toro has directed such horror film staples as Chronos, Mimic, The Devil’s Backbone, and Hellboy. He will be promoting his new film, Pan’s Labyrinth, which is set to be released on December 29, 2006. Pan’s Labyrinth is set during the fascist regime in Spain in 1944, Ofelia, a lonely kid living with her mom and adoptive father, creates a dream world filled with fantastic creatures to escape from postwar repression. You can meet this incredible visionary on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This is a one of a kind event and Mr. del Toro will be appearing ONLY at Jim Hanley’s Universe.
Then on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30th, Comedian of Comedy, BRIAN POSEHN, will be visiting JHU. Mr. Posehn has long been an avid comic book fan and recently, he and co-writer, GERRY DUGGAN, have entered the comic book world with THE LAST CHRISTMAS. After the apocalypse no one is safe – even at the North Pole. After tragedy strikes Santa withdraws from life and turns his back on Christmas. When Claus finally emerges from seclusion the old world is gone forever. As Santa struggles to find his way in a Mad Max-like world – can he find a way to save Christmas too? Bob Odenkirk, one of the creators of Mr. Show, said, “Brian Posehn is an angry, funny, twisted and very tall dwarf who helped cobble together ‘Mr. Show’ in Santa’s ‘other’ workshop, Gerry Duggan is of the same unstable ilk. ‘The Last Christmas’ should be better than drugs.” Brian and Gerry will be appearing on Late Night With Conan O’Brien THIS WEDNESDAY and will be promoting THE LAST CHRISTMAS and his appearances. You can meet them at Jim Hanley’s Universe on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, again, ONLY at JHU!
