After almost forty years as a staple of pop culture, Star Wars has become a powerful part of millions of lives. And the franchise’s continuing prominence through new animated series and feature films has ensured that younger generations are just as influenced by Star Wars as previous ones. A new promo for Globe’s #CreateCourage campaign that’s tied in with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” touches on the role that Star Wars plays in young lives — and the result is powerful.
The ad comes from the Philippines and depicts the day-to-day life of a young girl as she finds courage to live her life to the fullest by wearing a stormtrooper helmet. Of course the reveal of why she’s wearing the helmet is part of the clip’s final moments, and those moemnts will definitely make you tear up. Not even a Sith lord is immune to their own feelings while watching this video.
The ad was created in partnership with Globe and the #CreateCourage movement. Participating makes fans eligible to win a number of prizes, including a trip to florida for Star Wars Celebration. Joining the movement is simple and can be found on Globe’s site.
Set outside of the main sequel trilogy that began with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Rogue One” is set just before 1977’s “Star Wars” and details the Rebel plot to steal the Death Star plans from the Empire. Directed by Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla,” “Monsters”) from a script by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, “Rogue One” stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens on December 16.
