No matter how many Godzilla films you’ve watched, or how much kaiju trivia you can spout, no one will believe you’re a true fan unless you have a human-size statue of the King of the Monsters in your living room.
Arriving next year in Japan from Tamashii Nations, the 6-foot-4-inch statue is a replica of monster from 1991’s “Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah,” and is roughly the height of the suit the actors would wear. Meticulously detailed, it’s based on a much smaller model created by famed sculptor Yuji Sakai.
If you’re holding out for a life-size King of the Monsters, you’re out of luck — that is, unless you book a room at Hotel Gracery in Toky0, with its 30-foot Godzilla head erupting from the observation deck to overlook the street below. But you can’t own that one.
Of course, you probably can’t own this one, either. Beyond the nearly $40,000 price tag — sorry to get your hopes up! — the human-size statue is limited to just 10 pieces. But wait, there’s more: They’ll be sold through a raffle system that begins Nov. 7.
So, yeah, your odds of getting this person-size Godzilla statue is just about the same is getting a life-size one.
