Focus Features has secured the North American rights for "The Coldest City," a graphic novel by writer Antony Johnston and artist Sam Hart originally published by Oni Press in 2012. Deadline reported on the deal, noting that "Mad Max: Fury Road" star Charlize Theron has boarded the project in the lead role. Her super spy character will fight to save herself and her intelligence allies when a top secret list goes missing just prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Stepping behind the camera will be directing duo David Leitch and Chad Stahelski. The pair turned last year's Keanu Reeves vehicle "John Wick" into a surprise hit and have garnered buzz in the months since. In addition to directing "The Coldest City," Leitch and Stahelski are also attached to helm both the "John Wick" sequel and the upcoming adaptation of Valiant's "Bloodshot" comic, which is expected to arrive in theaters in 2017.

The screenplay for "The Coldest City," which is expected to have a budget of arond $30 million, will be handled by Kurt Johnstad. No release date or production schedule has been announced for the project.
