In this feature, I examine comic book fights that were particularly notable in the wrong side winning (or at least that the fight wasn't won the "right" way). This really isn't a big deal, of course, as it doesn't really matter if the "wrong" person won a fight. But it's fun to talk about!

Today, based on a suggestion from reader Brian M., we take a look at the time Iron Man took She-Hulk out with a single repulsor blast...

As always, the first page spotlights their power levels and the second page examines the fight itself.

And as always, the first question we need to ask is...

How did these people do when they fought Spider-Man?

Iron Man, as you all well know, is a very famous and powerful superhero. He is so powerful that in Iron Man (Vol.4) #14 (by Daniel and Charles Knauf, Patrick Zircher and Scott Hanna), during Civil War, he even DEFEATED SPIDER-MAN!

Don't worry, things were brought back to normal in Amazing Spider-Man #544 (by J. Michael Straczynski, Joe Quesada and Danny Miki), when Spidey takes out Iron Man...

But whatever, the key thing is that Iron Man is a strong guy.

She-Hulk, though, is also VERY powerful.

In Spectacular Spider-Man #168 (by Gerry Conway and Sal Buscema), the Space Phantom impersonates She-Hulk, which causes Spidey to track down the real She-Hulk and take a shot at her...

She's so strong that she can shrug off a punch from SPIDER-MAN!!!! SPIDER-MAN!!!!

But here's an even more important example. In Savage She-Hulk #6, by David A. Kraft, Mike Vosburg and Chic Stone, another case of mistaken identity sees Iron Man and She-Hulk fight...

So read on for the fight!

Okay, here's the thing. As I pointed out in an old Comic Book Legends Revealed, She-Hulk's presence in Contest of Champions came as a replacement for Ms. Marvel, who had lost her powers by the time the story came out in 1982 (it was mostly written in 1980 for the Olympics).

So this fight was originally supposed to be between Ms. Marvel and Iron Man. Even there, it wouldn't make sense, but just noting that this fight wasn't supposed to be She-Hulk/Iron Man.

Anyhow, here goes the fight (they are on opposite sides of the Contest of Champions)...

So yeah, pretty straightforward bad fight right there.

Thanks for the suggestion, Brian!

That's it for this installment!
