Universal Studios Hollywood attendees will soon be able to test their zombie apocalypse mettle when a new "Walking Dead" attraction arrives in 2016.

Slated to debut this summer, the immersive, haunted house-style attraction will incorporate aspects of both the hit AMC television series and the Image Comics title that spawned the show.

Announced on last night's "The Talking Dead," host Chris Hardwick described the attraction as "most intense, realistic 'Walking Dead' experience ever." "Walking Dead" showrunner and special effects head Greg Nicotero is involved in developing the attraction, which will feature a combination of animatronic zombie and live performaers.

Unlike the pop-up "Walking Dead" zombie run events, the Universal Studios attraction will be a permanent, year-round aspect of the park.

Coming Summer 2016, enter the post-apocalyptic world of AMC's "The Walking Dead" in an all-new year-round attraction. Prepare to fight for survival in a fully immersive journey as you navigate through a world overrun by hungry walkers.
