‘The Walking Dead’ Is the Most-Tweeted TV Series of the Year

AMC’s The Walking Dead was the most-tweeted television series of 2014, succeeding Breaking Bad at the top of the Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings.

According to TheWrap, the hit zombie drama had an average audience of 4.934 million per episode, with an average of 576,000 tweets. Last year, The Walking Dead finished in second place, with an average audience of 4.891 million and 490,000 tweets per episode.

To arrive at its rankings, Nielsen measures Twitter traffic from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30, monitoring a three-hour window before and after a show. The findings are broken into three categories: series, special events and sports programs.

The ABC reality show The Bachelor trailed The Walking Dead with an average audience of 3,842 million and 215,000 tweets per episode, followed by the ABC Family teen drama Pretty Little Liars, the FX anthology series American Horror Story: Freak Show and the HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

Despite the significant social-media presence of shows like Arrow and The Flash, no other comic-book adaptations cracked Nielsen’s Top 10. See the full list below.
