Amazon has released the trailer for the second half of the first season of The Tick, its comedic-yet-serious show that mocks the typical tropes of superheroes and their stories.

The trailer plays up the series' humor, showing Peter Serafinowicz' titular character embarking upon the search for his sidekick, Arthur. The diminutive superhero newbie is right where viewers last saw him, of course -- in the clutches of The Terror and Ms. Lint, desperately waiting for the Tick to arrive and rescue him.

The tone of this iteration of The Tick is a departure from its predecessors. Instead of the zany Saturday morning cartoon feel of the original animated series, or the laid-back sitcom vibe of the previous live-action incarnation, this telling of The Tick’s story is darker, yet still humorous. Instead of presenting Arthur as a plucky, hapless nerd, this version grapples with mental illness, while The Tick himself is a borderline tragic figure who suffers from a unique version of existential angst -- when he remembers to, at least.

The Tick stars Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick, Griffin Newman as Arthur Everest, Valorie Curry as Dot Everest, Brendan Hines as Superian, Jackie Earle Haley as The Terror and Yara Martinez as Ms. Lint.
